iOS 5 beta released on a weekend, points towards a joint release with iPad 3

iOS 5 to be release alongside iPad 3 and iPhone 5

For the first time in Apple’s history, the company released a beta version of it’s new firmware to developers on a Saturday. This suggest that the arrival of the official finished iOS 5 for the end-users of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 is imminent.

The fact that the release of iOS beta 5 falls on a Saturday means that the release date of the new firmware is sooner rather than later. Apple had opted not to wait until Monday to release the firmware to developers as it meant another 48 hours of waiting time before it could get feedback on the iOS – this means that the clock is ticking.

What this means is that somewhere in Apple’s upper management, the order has been given for the new iPad 3 to be launched alongside the debut of Apple’s new iOS. Given how Apple is pushing this new beta firmware out the door, it points towards the fact the release date of iPad 3 has been set in stone.

As the clock is ticking towards the release of the new iOS, it also means that it is a matter of time before we hear an announcement from Apple about the release of the new iPad 3

iPad 3 and iPhone 5 parts leaked online, pointing towards an upcoming launch

6 Aug

The iPad 3 may be coming soon, according to these leaks of Apple iPad 3 internal parts online.

First appearing on the website of online reseller SW-box, these supposed iPad 3 internal parts were found by 9to5 Mac. It seems like we do not have to wait long for a new Apple iPad.

iPad 3 full external button control cabling system?

9to5 Mac reports that the part seen on top is basically the full external button control cabling system for the rumored iPad 3. It consists of the power switch, volume keys, and silent/ringer switch. The materials used to build this component is the same as those used for the current generation of iPad 2 but the structure and locations of switches are completely different. These indicates that the new iPad 3 will have a different internal structure from the iPad 2 which leads to further speculation of a thinner and more sleek design for the iPad 3.

While this part may not be terribly interesting,  it does tells us iPad 3 is no longer just a mere rumor and that parts for it are already in production, perhaps even turning up in Apple stores worldwide in September or October.

iPhone 5 parts emerged online

The Apple rumor mills seem to be working overtime today as news surface of a iPhone 5 internal part emerging online.

iPhone 5 proximity light sensor

This here is rumored to be iPhone 5’s proximity light sensor. It would seem like Apple is gearing up production for both iPhone 5 and iPad 3 at the same time.

Perhaps come September, we will be treated to a simultaneous launch of both iDevices i.e. iPhone 5 and iPad 3. That will definitely shoot Apple’s sales figure through the roof.

iPad 3 releasing in time for Thanksgiving? That will really be something for Apple fan boys to give thanks about.

iPad 3 Thanksgiving release date

A Thanksgiving launch date for iPad 3?

Industry executives updated their forecast iPad 3 release date to be around this year’s holiday season. The months building up to the major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas has always been a good time for Apple to launch its new products. The general feeling of generosity, the spirit of gifting and major sale frenzies during Black Friday Apple offers or Apple’s Christmas sale have always boost Apple’s sales figure through the roof.

Taiwan Economic News report that Asustek Computing is rushing the production of its latest Transformer-coded tablet PC in anticipation of heavy competition from the launch of  Apple’s new iPad 3 at Thanksgiving.

Apple’s iPad has always been a heavy hitter in the world of tablet computing and the launch of the new iPad 3 during the holiday season will pose a serious threat to all non-Apple tablets.

As its competitors gear up to fight off Apple, a Thanksgiving launch date for Apple’s iPad 3 will turn the holiday season into a major battleground for iPad 3 vs non-Apple tablets.

Up-to-date iPad 3 Rumors

A round-up of the latest Apple iPad 3 rumors and news.

1) Release date for iPad 3

Read our article on possible release dates for the new iPad.

2) New display for the iPad 3 or iPad HD

Rumors of the new iPad having a high resolution display seems to be true with news of Apple working with Samsung and LG to develop a screen with higher pixel density.

Apple blogger John Gruber believes that the new iPad will be getting a retina display, which is Apple’s super sharp screen that is currently found on Apple’s iPhone 4.

What remains unknown, however, is whether Apple will launch a premium version of the iPad 2 i.e. the iPad HD before introducing true retina display on the iPad 3. This will buy apps developer some time to adapt to the higher screen resolution.

3) The iPad 3 will boast a faster A6 processor

The current generation of iPad 2 comes equipped with a dual-core A5 processor. Seeing as how Android tablets are already rocking quad-core processors, it is safe to say that the new iPad 3 will ship with Apple’s new and faster A6 processor installed.

4) 3D iPad 3

Possible Glasses Free 3D Display?

Some speculate that the new iPad will have a glasses free 3D display similar to that of the Nintendo 3DS.  It is highly unlikely that Apple will walk down that path as glasses free 3D technology is still in its infancy. The user not only have to hold the screen at a certain awkward angle, implementing it will harm the iPad’s battery life.

5) iPad 3 running on 4G network

Due to battery life concerns, Apple has been slow in adapting 4G technology into it’s devices. Still, given the iPad’s incredible battery life, there might be a chance that the new iPad will be running on Verizon and AT & T 4G LTE network.

6) iPad 3 Nano

Analysts claim that Apple could launch a 7-inch iPad, pointing to the success of all those 7-inch Android tablets.

It is doubtful that we will see the arrival of an iPad Nano as Steve Jobs himself had scoffed at 7-inch tablets. He says that 7-inch screens are just too small for consumers to use comfortably.

7) Thinner and Lighter iPad 3 casing

Apple is always looking to shave down the weight and thickness of their devices so this is more of a iPad 3 news than rumor.

If Guilherme Martins Schasiepen is to be believed, this is the new iPad 3 design.

What the new iPad 3 could look like

Possible Protoype for iPad 3

To get a better idea of the new iPad 3’s design, we will have to wait for the release of the new iPhone 5 as Apple like to sync the design of their devices.

High-resolution display for new iPad

2 Aug

Retina Display Currently on iPhone 4

Speculations that the new iPad will include a higher-resolution display gained strength recently with Mac Rumors reporting that Apple is collaborating with Samsung and LG to develop a new LCD display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536, double that of the current generation of iPads.

Working out to be 260 pixels per inch on the new iPad, this display is not as high as the ‘Retina’ display that the current iPhone 4 boasts but it is an significant improvement over the current display found on iPad 2. This gives the new iPad better picture quality and density as compared to Apple’s iPad 2.

“Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 will feature an improved display to support quad extended graphics, a display resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio to provide a full high definition (HD) viewing experience,” said a source close to the talks.

Apple has started quality testing the LCD displays produced by Samsung and LG. With Q4 of 2011 rolling round the corner, testing of these new display could be done at any moment, paving the way for the release of a new iPad in 2011.

There are also talks that the new high-def display is being developed for the rumored iPad HD or iPad Plus, claiming that a premium version of the iPad 2 will be released in time for the holidays.

On the other hand, Steve Jobs could just surprise all of us with a iPad 3 equipped with HD display come October.

iPad 3 Release Date

Apple's iPad 3 hot on the heels of iPad 2?

Undoubtedly the most pressing question on everyone’s minds, when will the new iPad be coming out?

While speculators have been quick to point out that it is unlikely for Apple to push out a new iPad in the same year as iPad 2, an unnamed Apple insider has pointed out iPad 2 was a rush job and “the third generation iPad is the one to make a song and dance about.”

A recent Reuters report has reported that the iPad3 is being schedule for a 2011 Q4 launch date with an image resolution 5-6 times sharper than the previous generation. This report has been echoed by The China Times, saying that there are rumors of a new iPad, with an improved display, being released in September 2011.

However, it was unsure if this refers to a new iPad3 or an upgraded version of the iPad2 – the iPad2 Plus. The report also points to the possibility of late November launch date to coincide with the Thanksgiving holidays.

Digitimes reported that upstream suppliers in Taiwan are gearing up production for a wave of new Apple devices. According to the report, sources have pointed out that iPad3 has been added to the production schedule with production volume picking up in October.

Most current sources point to a late 2011 release date for the iPad3.
